Did you know? - Minor Ailments
Did you know the Minor Ailments Scheme is an NHS service for anyone who does not pay prescription charges.
It includes children under 16.
You must register for the NHS Minor Ailment Service at a community pharmacy of your choice.
The pharmacist will ask you to
- Provide some details - your name, date of birth, gender and postcode
- Complete a form which you must sign to register for the service
Your pharmacist
- Will be able to offer advice
- May be able to give you medicines for a minor illness free of charge
You do not need an appointment with your GP to access the minor ailments scheme.
The list of conditions which can be treated under the Minor Ailments Scheme includes
- Athletes foot
- Acne
- Back ache
- Sprains/strains
- Cold sores
- Conjunctivitis
- Constipation
- Coughs/colds
- Flu
- High temperature
- Diarrhoea
- Earache
- Haemorrhoids
- Hay fever
- Headlice
- Headaches/fever
- Heartburn
- Indigestion
- Insect bites/stings
- Mild eczema
- Mild dermatitis
- Mouth ulcers
- Nappy rash
- Sore throat
- Warts/verrucas
- Minor fungal skin infections
- Threadworm
- Thrush
- Teething
